ASP .NET Web Developer (Toronto)

The Cardiac Care Network of Ontario (CCN) has built an international reputation promoting effective management and monitoring of patients requiring advanced cardiac services. CCN serves an advisory role to the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. We are dedicated to improving quality, efficiency, access, and equity in the delivery of adult cardiac services.

Reporting to the Director, Informatics and Business Intelligence, the ASP .NET Web Developer will be responsible for providing Web site/application development, administration and support services to CCN. This person will be responsible for all environmental aspects of the CCN Web sites, applications, registries, forms and surveys including integrity, security, availability, performance, recoverability, development, maintenance and testing. Other responsibilities include the investigation, procurement, recommendation and management and maintenance of the Web sites, applications and technologies as needed to support CCN and its comprehensive information resources. The ASP .NET Web Developer will work closely with other members of the team to ensure consistency and integrity of data collection; to assist with processes surrounding collection and reporting of complex, related information. The ASP .NET Web Developer contributes to the mission, vision and values of CCN by providing Web technology expertise that builds upon CCN’s solid reputation as an objective, evidence-based organization. This is a full-time position available immediately.

Position Summary:

As a member of the Informatics and Business Intelligence Team, the ASP .NET Web Developer position serves a key role in the organization by ensuring the Web sites, applications, registries, forms and surveys are available to support CCN.
 
This includes the following:
  • Works with users to scope solutions and refine business requirements.
  • Creates and maintains new and existing web applications, registries, forms and surveys based on user requirements
  • Web site development and maintenance: develops and maintains/updates CCN internet sites and internal sites.
  • Performs day-to-day administration of the organization's Web portfolio.
  • Tracks source code and change management, leveraging source code repository, ensuring accurate documentation and following development methodology.
  • Writing functional and technical specifications and user documentation for Web sites and applications.
  • Works with database administrator and data manager to ensure consistency, accuracy, compatibility and security of data.
  • Troubleshoots website technical and user issues, ensuring applications are working effectively and efficiently.
  • Works with website users to resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure cross browser compatibility and web standards on all solutions.
  • Participate in application testing, documentation and deployment
  • Effectively perform the role of a Quality Assurance Analyst for the development team.
Key Qualifications:
  • University degree or college diploma in Web technology /computer science / information systems
  • 3-5years' experience with ASP.Net
  • 3-5years' experience with .NET, C# and VB.NET
  • 3-5 years' experience with XML, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Web Services
  • Excellent programming skills using Microsoft technology, web programming using ASP.Net, VB.Net, C#, VB Script, JavaScript, Ajax and JQuery
  • Strong knowledge of and experience in HTML, DHTML, CSS, XML
  • Good understanding of .NET 2.0/3.5 framework, Windows Server 2003 - 2008
  • Experience in creating user authentication, memberships and roles for web applications including authentication across applications and domains
  • Experience in developing Content Management Systems (CMS).
  • Expert knowledge and proficiency in design tools: Microsoft Visual Studio 2005/2008, Visual Web Developer, Silverlight, Dreamweaver, Flash
  • Sound understanding of Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008.
  • Expert level experience developing cross-browser compatible code based on web standards
  • Experience integrating with major 3rd party tools, RSS and APIs such as Facebook, Twitter, Google, etc;
  • Knowledge of graphics design, multimedia applications and tools, ads/banners, forum and blog would be an asset
  • Experience in gathering and writing business requirements
  • Experience in writing and co-ordinating User Acceptance Testing Plans
  • Knowledgeable user of common desktop applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.) required.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical and communication skills
  • Highly skilled in stakeholder engagement and customer services with a proven ability to interact with people from all organizational levels and build consensus through negotiation and diplomacy.
  • Project management experience and skilled in the conceptual mapping of projects and outcomes.
  • Self-motivated, highly accountable, with demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member.
  • Effective and creative problem solving skills
  • Ability to effectively manage workload and competing priorities to complete projects and/or provide operational support in a timely manner.
  • Previous experience working with health care data is preferred.
