JUNIOR PROGRAMMER - C++ / MS ACCESS (GTA)

We are looking for someone to fill a Junior programming and technical support position for a downtown Toronto location. The person we are looking for is capable of working on their own and able to take control of programming projects.

We are an international developer and distributor of software programs for the Retail trade, from General retail stores to Restaurant environments on a Windows platform.

Fluent conversational English is mandatory.

Experience in Borland C++, VB 6, MS Access 97 is mandatory, C++, HTML and Web programming, computers and Publishing programs such as Word Perfect and MS office are essential and required.

Windows operating system and networking skills and knowledge also required.

Knowledge of web development, including designing and updating of websites and ability to create and send broadcast emails is an an asset.

Duties include:
  • Design, development and maintenance of programs on multiple Windows platforms
  • Design of new program functionality and implementation of these and customizations
  • Design and updating of programs with customer input
  • Perform specific program testing
  • Provide technical support to program users
  • Design and maintenance of websites
  • Design of broadcast emails.
A drivers license and car is preferred but not necessary.

This position is is a full time, yearly contract position renewable annually and requires that you have a Business # and GST/HST licence.

.NET Developer - MCPD (Downtown Toronto)

Our downtown financial services based client requires an Intermediate .NET Developer to develop and be involved in all phases of the development life-cycle, including analysis, design, development, quality assurance, implementation, and support of web and web service and desktop applications

Role and Responsibilities
  • Analyze requirements and design the best possible solution based on technology, infrastructure and timelines provided
  • Work closely with the Application Development Manager, Business Analysts and end users to ensure code quality, accuracy and correct business solutions have been developed
  • Develop Solutions with appropriate technologies (VB 6.0, C#, ASP.NET, SOAP/Web Services, Crystal Reports, SQL Server 2000/2005/2008, WCF, WF, EF, Enterprise Library)
  • Develop unit test cases/criteria to verify all functionality adheres to specifications
  • Provide post-implemetnation support
  • SQL Server database maintenance including but not limited to schema changes, adding replication agents and monitoring performance
  • Qualifications and Experience
MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE:
  • Minimum of 3 years programming experience
  • Experience developing with .NET 3.5/4.0, C#, ASP.NET, Web Services, WCF, WF, EF and Enterprise Library
  • MUST BE WORKING TOWARDS AN MCPD Designation - Enterprise Application Developer designation
  • Experience with SQL Server 2005/2008
  • Excellent Communication skills, both verbal and written

Position Overview:

Our client is a global company at the forefront of the Enterprise Communication market. Headquartered in Concord, Ontario, Canada. Our client enables Enterprises to communicate and collaborate more efficiently and effectively by offering customers a full range of open standard IP-based and traditional communications solutions, including terminals, systems and applications.

Reporting to the Director – Global Industrialization, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing several strategic initiatives related to the harmonization of corporate business processes and databases related to Global Item Master, Product Data Management, Change Management and other duties as required.

The successful candidate forms part of the Global Industrialization team and will be expected to work closely with Industrialization team members, IT, PLM, various Country Sales Units (CSUs,) and PPG Global Supply Operations in order to provide organizational stability and a scalable framework for future growth.

Responsibilities:
  • Initially project manage the roll-out of the Global Item Master database and associated processes, and support the roll-out of the associated Operations Projects. Secondary activities will be focused on -Product Data Management projects (Oracle Agile), Change Management projects, and other projects as required.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership across the organization in his/her primary areas of responsibility.
  • Attend various forums as the primary Industrialization representative. He/she will also be expected to provide summary reports from these forums to the various functional groups and to the functional group Directors as necessary.
  • Assist the Director - Global Industrialization by overseeing and acting as a Project Sponsor for a number of global projects that have Industrialization impact.

Requirements:
  • A minimum of 5 years working experience in manufacturing or supply chain management, preferably with telecom products. Knowledge and experience in dealing with Contract Manufacturers, order processing, logistics (inbound/outbound) and sales channels would be considered strong assets.
  • A strong business process background, with the ability to flowchart and document how business processes are executed, as well as make suggestions for improvement.. Having 6-sigma certification or LEAN Principles experience are considered strong assets.
  • Effective project management and communication skills with internal departments, external parties and other stakeholders. Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or equivalent accreditations are considered assets.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel as required to support the execution of various projects/initiatives.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English. Fluency in French, German, Swedish, or Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) are considered highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with programming, with Visual Basic, MySQL and/or database programming highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Agile PLM or similar PDM applications is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (JD Edwards 8.0/8.11 or SAP) is highly desirable.
  • Self motivated, initiative, responsible and well-organized.
