Senior QA Specialist (North York)

The ideal candidate will be someone with solid experience in manual testing, with strong interest in Application servers and databases and a passion for quality. They will be a team player, committed to the deliverables and passionate about quality of the product. The position demands a methodical approach to problem solving. Day to day the tester will be doing hands on testing; as well as working closely with our development, support and business teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform all aspects of verification, including functional testing, system testing, integration testing, user
• acceptance testing, regression testing, and performance/stress testing
• Write, execute, maintain manual test cases and related artifacts (code, scripts, inputs, expected results,
• execution reports), with minimum supervision
• Analyze, triage, and manage software defects, and work closely with the development team to fix/close the
• defects
• Assist with the analysis of business requirements and the development of system requirement specifications,
• from a test engineering perspective
• Perform other duties as requested and assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS: (PLEASE FILL OUT THE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE FOR EACH SKILL)

• 5+ years of extensive software QA experience in testing enterprise class software
• Hands-on experience with Application servers (e.g. Tomcat, Weblogic, WebSphere, JBoss) and with SQL (e.g. Oracle, MySQL, MSSQL) is a must. ______ Years of Experience
• Knowledge of DNS, DHCP servers and communication protocols (i.e. HTTP, Sockets, TCP/IP, and SSL would be
• considered a plus ______ Years of Experience
• Strong background in setting up and configuring Linux ______ Years of Experience
• Experience with the following web languages and technologies; HTML, CSS, JavaScript ______ Years of Experience
• Experience with all stages of testing (Functional, System, Integration, Data Validation, User Acceptance,
• Performance, Stress, Load) ______ Years of Experience
• Programming experience with Java, Perl, C and exposure to Linux/Unix and shell scripting ______ Years of Experience
• A deadline driven approach, strong attention to detail, and ability to work in a collaborative team environment
• Team Player with a proactive, positive attitude, ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
• with minimal supervision.
• Excellent verbal/written communication, organization, leadership skills, and trouble-shooting skills
• EDUCATION
• Post-secondary education in Programming, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or related
• field.
• Formal training/certification in QA methodologies and practice would be considered an asset
