QA Manager (Mississauga)

Job Summary:

Reporting to the CTO, the QA Manager is responsible for driving WinMagic’s QA strategy and for ensuring that quality is achieved across SecureDoc development and maintenance areas. This will involve defining and implementing the QA strategies for each area, promoting continuous quality achievement and improvement and evaluating and minimizing potential deficiencies and their impact on the organization.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, execute and maintain QA plans including the management of resources.
  • Provide timely and meaningful test result updates to the teams.
  • Develop and manage QA metrics for software performance improvement.
  • Ensure QA procedures are well documented to ensure re-usability and compliance with established standards.
  • Works closely with Team Leaders and Managers to ensure quality is implemented as part of their processes and that quality standards are adhered to.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with Product Manager and Software Development Engineers to ensure success of project test phases and release.
  • Establish and enforce QA standards, methods and procedures to determine product quality and release readiness.
  • Analyze product requirements and design specifications to create detailed test plans/test cases.
  • Manage the planning and execution of product testing efforts to meet the committed delivery dates.
  • Communicate weekly status reports and potential barriers to the R&D management team.
  • Anticipate program release problems and take corrective action, escalating as needed, to resolve and achieve commitments.
  • Participate in product design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product design, schedules and potential problems.
  • Identify and recommend training for team members to ensure skills are maintained.
Qualifications:
  • A degree in computer science, software engineering or related technical discipline
  • Minimum of 10 years QA experience in software application, including 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Profound understanding of both system level and unit level testing methodologies. Expertise testing complex Client-Server applications and experience testing complex web-based applications.
  • Solid experience defining and implementing strategic QA plans with a successful track record in building and managing QA teams.
  • Advance knowledge of contemporary software QA processes, methodologies and testing tools.
  • Thorough knowledge of testing and QA within Windows, Linux and Mac environments
  • Knowledgeable with Databases and Database queries
  • Diplomatic and able to withstand pressures and say “no” to other managers when quality is insufficient or QA processes are not being adhered to.
  • Well developed project management skills including project planning, estimation and release management.
  • Strong leadership skills that inspire team confidence and respect while motivating team members in a creative and effective manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to promote cooperation between Development, QA, Pre Sales and Technical Support.
  • Must have a desire for achieving excellence in customer satisfaction, process and product quality and reliability.
